Weekly Update 02/05/2016

From Bob Schwartz, City Manager

Honorary Councilmember of the Month - Mayor Roseberry appointed Dean Steve Bowen as the honorary councilmember for March. He will attend the February work session along with the March council meeting. His lunch and tour were on Friday, February 05, 2016. Gabriella Korobkov, student intern last year, and Alexis Miller, this year’s student intern, met us for lunch along with Chief Dave Harvey and Mayor Roseberry.

Electric Repairs – Sometimes things happen in bunches. Wednesday at 3 AM the electric department responded to a power outage at the Oxford College police department. Vines had grown into the power line. And first thing Wednesday morning at 7 AM the electric department responded to repair a house service on Queen Ann Street that had been knocked down by a tree. After that, the electric department turned into our storm water department to check on ditches, culverts, and drainage systems during and after the heavy rain Wednesday morning. We had 2 ½ inches in about two hours – enough to strain any storm drainage system.

Kitchen Sink Development – The proposed “Kitchen Sink” development along Alcovy Road has been cancelled. I’ve attached a copy of the online story from Tuesday’s Covington News.

Police Department – Here are the graphs for January.
