Weekly Update 03/03/2017

From Bob Schwartz, City Manager

Promotion – Chief Harvey has promoted Officer Jeff Novak to Lieutenant to replace James Pilgrim. Lt. Novak will do an excellent job. I took him to lunch at the Oxford College Dining Hall to celebrate. I discovered two things: 1) police in uniform eat free at the Dining Hall, and 2) the Dining Hall now has a senior discount of about $2 on lunch. So, it worked out for both of us.

Leaf Collection – We are behind in leaf collection. Our truck developed a leak in the cooling system a couple of weeks ago. When it was repaired and put back on the road, the clutch went out. Jody borrowed a truck from Porterdale and ran the brush route with it. Our leaf machine does not connect to the Porterdale truck. Our truck came back from the shop Friday and we started picking up leaves. We plan to finish catching up next week.

DDA – The Downtown Development Authority of the City of Oxford held its first meeting on Thursday. Mark McGiboney was elected Chair and Loren Roberts was elected Vice-Chair. The DDA will meet monthly at 7 PM on the third Wednesday of the month beginning April 19th.

Police Department Statistics – Here are the graphs for the fiscal year through February.
