From Matt Pepper, City Manager
→ We hosted a meeting with The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation to discuss the opportunity of having a Ramble in our area. A Ramble is a Georgia Trust-sponsored event wherein the general public is invited to tour a city’s historic properties as a way to learn more about its history. Over 25 people attended the meeting, including city officials and residents from the cities of Covington, Porterdale, Newborn, Social Circle, and Oxford.
→ During the thunderstorm on Wednesday night, we had a limb fall on a double circuit line on West Wade Street. This caused the substation to lock out circuit 5242. This power circuit feeds Oxford College and half of the residents in the city. The city’s electric department was able to make the necessary repairs and return service in about two hours.
